In compelling hues of deepest blue and indigo reminiscent of the waters of the
Five Cowries creek the subject traverses, the ‘Lekki bridge’ scarf is an exciting
new addition to our scarf collection. The abstract pattern makes for a beautiful overall aesthetic but there is no mistaking that the subject matter is the newest and most popular visual of the Lagos, Nigeria skyline.
Commissioned in May 2013 by the then Governor of Lagos State the very
handsome Babatunde Fashola, it holds the honour of being the first cable-
stayed bridge in West Africa.
It cost a whopping 29 billion Naira to build and despite being a toll bridge,
which was heavily contested at the time of opening, it is dearly beloved by all
of us whose lives it has made a lot more bearable.
Popping up all over the scarf in uncompromising black and white the bridge is
an architectural delight, a work of art and a proud symbol of progression in
Lagos, so it was only proper that it be immortalised in this delightful scarf.
