The Mama Zi Story

Mama Zi takes its inspiration from current everyday Nigeria.  We mix everyday experiences with icons, motifs and photographs from past and present Nigeria. to produce original prints.  We present these ideas to you as special and beautiful products that are to be used, worn and carried with love everyday.  Many of our items make beautiful and unique gifts.

Mama Zi was founded in 2009 by the husband and wife team of Bex and Emma Nwawudu. Emma (now Mama Zi) a Nigerwife, married to investment banker Bex Nwawudu, a Nigerian financier with an active creative side. He works to keep the ideas flowing, the products relevant and work fun. They have both lived in Lagos for over 10 years & Emma has been a professional photographer for over 15 years.  Emma has a BA (hon) degree in media arts and an MA in Photography. As is African custom Mama Zi came into being when their first child, Zizi, was born. They have two more wonderful children that make them happy and keep them busy.

Many of the Mama Zi prints are inspired from photography that the founder of Mama Zi has her self taken whilst in Lagos & travelling throughout Nigeria. These prints are available to purchase in a number of sizes on high grade 350gsm stock photographic paper in both glass and matt finishes. All prints will ship in a padded & secure envelopes.
